This Conference will explore the growing interest in the therapist's responsiveness, the bilateral elements of the relationship in every psychotherapy, and the conscious and unconscious elements affecting the therapeutic action.

Workshop A:  Couples Therapy

Professor Thomas Young, PhD, Widener University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

A specialist in the field of couples therapy, Professor Young will explore perspectives from affect theory, intersubjectivity, self psychology and narrative theory to understand relationship dynamics within a multi-generational family systems framework.



Workshop B:  New Narratives in Gender and Sexuality:

A QUESTION OF SUBJECTIVITIES

Dr Andria Schwartz, PhD, Supervising and Training Analyst, New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.

Author of a number of important contemporary books on sexuality, Dr Schwartz will present an interactive workshop focusing on the deconstruction of the Oedipal family, as we know it. Through case presentation the workshop will expand Dr Schwartz's ideas.
